Blind, Toothless, 16-Year-Old Dog On Borrowed Time At Crowded Shelter

Update 5/27/2023: Pepito has been tagged for rescue! Safe.

Corpus Christi, TX – An elderly dog is at risk of being put down at a busy Texas animal shelter. The 16-year-old dog was picked up on May 24 and brought to the City of Corpus Christi Animal Care facility.

According to shelter notes, the dog, Pepito, was injured when he was picked up, and he is also blind, toothless, and missing some hair. His adoption notes state:

We are requesting rescue placement so Pepito may receive any additional medical treatment he will need. At this time, Pepito has been friendly and social while in our care. Pepito is being kept comfortable and is under the care of our veterinary team. However, we are unable to provide the medical treatment he needs which is the reason for urgent rescue placement needed.

Shelters are full, and so are most rescue groups. But there might be a rescue agency that is willing and able to help this elderly dog. Please share his information to help him find a safe place to go.
