Golden Valley, Arizona – A wild donkey found himself in a crappy situation (pun intended) when he fell into a septic tank at an RV park in Golden Valley. According to the Bureau of Land Management Arizona, the wild burro had likely been in the tank for an extended period of time, including during the night when the temperature plummeted to 40 degrees.
The agency described the precarious situation the burro was in:
BLM wild horse and burro specialists immediately responded and upon arrival found the wild burro struggling to hold its head above the water and raw sewage in the septic tank — the tank was about six feet deep. The burro managed to somehow stand on its back legs and hold its head just outside the septic tanks lid. The burro was clearly exhausted, and the specialist knew they needed to act fast.
The rescue team, working with the RV park’s maintenance crew, pumped the sewage out of the tank, and then cut the top to free the burro. After being hoisted from the tank, the exhausted animal was rinsed off and provided alfalfa and fresh, clean water.
John Hall, BLM Arizona’s Wild Horse and Burro Program lead, said:
“Rescues like this highlight the incredible link between the BLM and local communities. When people and wild burros share space, situations can get complicated quickly. We’re grateful for the teamwork that helped bring this burro to safety and for the continued support from the public in protecting these animals.”

Thank God this precious donkey was saved!!!
Where’s rest of this ‘Beaking News’ story reg whose Septic Tank this is & is responsible for it being UNCOVERED & who would’ve ‘been responsible’ if it was an underaged human who fell in & drowned? Septic tanks are not usually located on unowned public land.

I am surprised that the BLM just take the easy way out and euthanize the poor soul. They don’t ever seemed to be concerned about rounding up wild horses and burrows and scaring them to death.
Exactly. Or the disgusting slaughter pipelines they create. This burro has no idea how lucky he is.

Thank you to those that rescued that poor burro and bringing him to safety!
good job…. just glad the management of wildlife just didn’t go in a kill the poor donkey….. since they do the roundups… u know he was happy to be outta that death well…. people need to be more aware of the wildlife and animals around them all the time so things like this don’t happen…. it was a good save…
Why was the septic tank not covered? Human DEVILS who left it uncovered should be arrested
Exactly my thoughts, there should have been a lid on the septic tank in the first place as that must’ve been Terrifying for the poor donkey.
I hope they keep this septic tank lid on from now on…Thanks to all who helped save the Donkey.
