Blind, Toothless, 16-Year-Old Dog On Borrowed Time At Crowded Shelter

Update 5/27/2023: Pepito has been tagged for rescue! Safe.

Corpus Christi, TX – An elderly dog is at risk of being put down at a busy Texas animal shelter. The 16-year-old dog was picked up on May 24 and brought to the City of Corpus Christi Animal Care facility.

According to shelter notes, the dog, Pepito, was injured when he was picked up, and he is also blind, toothless, and missing some hair. His adoption notes state:

We are requesting rescue placement so Pepito may receive any additional medical treatment he will need. At this time, Pepito has been friendly and social while in our care. Pepito is being kept comfortable and is under the care of our veterinary team. However, we are unable to provide the medical treatment he needs which is the reason for urgent rescue placement needed.

Shelters are full, and so are most rescue groups. But there might be a rescue agency that is willing and able to help this elderly dog. Please share his information to help him find a safe place to go.

  1. Poor precious little treasure!!! I would love to adopt him. My husband and I have a soft spot for seniors (we both have the word “sucker” on our foreheads that’s only visible to animals), lol………

  2. Tagged to be rescued? It sounded like there was someone, a rescue maybe who would take him. I emailed about 5 rescues for senior dogs in Texas the other night in the hope that he could get help and heard from only one which said they could not. I have a 16 year old who is also blind and toothless as well as deaf and he takes a lot of time plus I am 2,000 miles aways. I caN to get the update to open but I hope he gets saved. Any animal in need is heartbreaking but old dogs need a bit more help sometimes. If only ever dog, cat, etc. could have a happy life and ending. That is how it should be instead of having to post articles to rescue them from death row.

  3. Thank God for this message I was waiting on!! I put this on FB and hoped that someone would see it, and then I prayed!! I don’t know if anyone saw my ad about the dog, and I don’t really care, what I care about is the life of this sweet little chihuahua!! Thank you again God!!!

  4. “Shelters are full, and so are most rescue groups.” Meanwhile dog breeder$ are carrying on “manufacturing” countless puppies every day. I swear, dog breeders are pure scum and have reserved a special place in hell. Little Pepito deserves only love, great care, respect and safety for his remaining time on Earth. He’s not getting that at any “shelter,” although this one seems to care more than others. I hope and pray that the right person/people step up to save that dear little guy.
