Las Vegas, NV – A woman is facing multiple animal cruelty charges for leaving nine pit bull mix dogs inside of a parked vehicle in the scorching Las Vegas heat. It was 111 degrees on July 14 when two of the dogs perished in the hot vehicle, which was parked outside of a Motel 6 on Dean Martin Drive.

As reported by 8 News Now, 47-year-old Katrina Brazil told the police that she bred the dogs to be sold, but she was recently evicted and staying at the motel. She also told the authorities that she “lost track of time,” and never thought of bringing the dogs into the air-conditioned motel room.
Brazil is facing nine counts of injuring an animal – misdemeanors, as a result of the July 14 incident.
The adult dog who died was named Cash – a necropsy confirmed that he died of heatstroke. A puppy also died, but Brazil did not know the pup’s name. The surviving dogs were taken in by animal services.
Each summer, the warnings are repeatedly shared – do not leave dogs inside of parked vehicles on even moderately warm days. The consequences are horrible.
