Springfield, OR – An Oregon man is facing multiple charges for abandoning a box of puppies at a bus stop in Springfield in early December. According to a release from the Springfield Police Department, 72-year-old Jeffery Lynn Dugger left a large box of puppies near a bus stop on 54th Street; the box was completely taped closed.
The release states:
It was discovered that the box had been taped completely closed without any ventilation, food, water, or attempt to keep the puppies warm. Additionally, the box was marked with a shipping label indicating the address of one ‘Jeff Dugger’. During the investigation, it was discovered that Dugger had also called Greenhill roughly 24 hours before the puppies were found and threatened to dispose of them if GHS did not take them ‘immediately’
The six puppies were taken in by the Springfield Animal Control agency and turned over to the Greenhill Humane Society.
Dugger is facing six counts of Animal Abandonment – Cruelty.
