Los Angeles, California – A Los Angeles woman’s enthusiastic celebration of the Knicks prompted a call to the police from a “concerned neighbor” and resulted in the killing of a dog named Jameson. According to sources, Los Angeles police officers responded to the call about a “screaming woman” at an apartment in Canoga Park on Saturday night.
Officers knocked on an apartment door and a woman with a large, barking dog, opened it. The woman was instructed to “secure the dog” but he managed to exit the unit when she opened the door again. In a release from the LAPD, the department said, “Once outside of the apartment, the dog charged at one of the officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS).”
Video footage captured the heartbreaking moments after Jameson was killed. The woman can be seen cradling his body and saying, “The Knicks just won the championship. We were just so happy. We just celebrating the Knicks.”
The doodle mix was still wearing his Knicks shirt when he was slain by the police. Angry residents lashed out at officers who lingered in the area. One man can be heard on video yelling, “This is f—ing pathetic when there’s drug dealers, people stabbing each other outside.”

STUPID POLICE!!! Why do they always have to shoot innocent dogs?? This is not the first time, evil idiots!!!

They shot a goldendoodle? A goldendoodle? They are not aggressive, mean dogs so, was the dog running to say hi and this officer has never seen a dog in his life to read that body language? Or did he forgot to wear his big girl pants that day? Or was it his first day? Or is he just a mean AF cop? Like what the actual fuck?!
It is deeply concerning how often we see situations where a pet is shot due to a complete lack of understanding of animal behavior. Officers are trained to handle complex human threats, yet many academies offer zero training on how to read a dog’s body language or use non-lethal tools like batons, tasers, or fire extinguishers. If mail carriers and delivery drivers can navigate loose dogs every single day without using lethal force, our law enforcement officers should be equipped to do the same. We need mandatory animal de-escalation training nationwide to protect both officers and innocent family pets

Inexcusable action from the police. This is unwarranted use of force. Killing a dog! Inexcusable. I come from a family of police officers, and not a single one has ever/would ever defended this kind of level of brutality. I pray this poor pup didn’t suffer —reset innocent soul who deserved better in life and death.

Doesn’t it just give you a a feeling of confidence in our Police to know that they’re scared of a dog and they have to shoot it. No wonder people are shot before they’re tased or maced. That officer should be retrained.
And what dog owner can’t control their dog to stay in their own house when they are at the door!
And these kind of instances are why people call the police instead of confronting their neighbor because so many situations become volatile they do not want to handle something even as little as a noise complaint I don’t blame the neighbor, but at the same time the apartment manager should’ve been able to handle this.

Firstly, it’s ridiculous for a neighbor to call police for someone who was just celebrating. How void of common sense is that person to not be a bit more certain that something was actually wrong. That’s a pathetic human being.
As for the police, just pathetic. Most dogs when a door is opened with people on the outside are going to proceed to check out the people. I know mine does just because she’s so excited to see people. Apparently this gun happy police officer doesn’t understand dogs. He shouldn’t carry a badge. Bless that innocent pup who obviously had a happy life and someone who loved him.

I’m not all that sure she deserves to have ANY more pets. While the cops were idiots, she wasn’t all that bright screeching over a stupid sports game to the extent that the neighbors had to call the police – her own dog must have been scared of her screaming. And she should have put her dog in another room for safety before she answered the door.

The officer that shot the dog should be fired and have to pay restitution to the owner.
