Charlotte, NC – A homeless dog named Ghost has been captured on video crying in a lonely kennel run at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Services facility, begging to be loved. The two-year-old dog was picked up as a stray in late June and taken to the shelter facility.
A volunteer captured Ghost’s mournful cries. The video was uploaded to the Isle of Dogs at Oak Island Facebook page, with a caption that reads in part:
Poor GHOST, he is in a full shelter that has been euthanizing amazing dogs solely due to space, so he stays in his kennel and howls nonstop begging to be given a chance to live. Will you help GHOST?
The young dog not only longs to be loved, but he seems to know that he is not safe at the shelter facility…undoubtedly, these intuitive dogs know that their counterparts have disappeared after being led away from their kennel runs – though some dogs make it into adoptive homes, others suffer an unthinkable fate; euthanized through no fault of their own.
A foster home WAS located for Ghost, and for a brief moment his loneliness has been alleviated. But he is not safe until he has been adopted. His advocate, a volunteer, explains:
HE IS NOT TRULY SAFE UNTIL HE IS ADOPTED OR IN RESCUE!!! I HAVE LOST TWO DOGS THAT WENT OF STAYCATION/FOSTER AND WHEN CAME BACK TO THE FULL SHELTER WERE EUTHANIZED AND I HAD NO IDEA UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE !!!
You can assist Ghost in his quest for a home by sharing his adoption information. You can find the information below.
