Austin, TX – A tiny puppy is lucky to be alive after finding herself in an Austin storm drain. According to Austin Pets Alive, the 4-pound puppy was saved because someone heard her crying in the drain.
The agency writes:
While taking out the trash, Cassie heard unusual cries coming from a nearby storm drain. Concerned, she investigated and discovered a tiny, soaking-wet, shivering puppy trapped inside.
Building maintenance attempted to free the puppy from the drain, but more help was needed. The animal welfare agency explains, “The puppy, who we now call Poinsettia, kept slipping deeper into the drain until one firefighter bravely climbed down and managed to rescue her.”
Poinsettia was rescued, but more challenges were ahead. After making it to Austin Animal Center, she started having seizures. The medical team is working round-the-clock to save Poinsettia’s life.
