Rescuers Save Horse Who Fell Through Floor Of Stall

Boston, MA – Days ago, a rescue team was deployed to a farm to save an eight-year-old Lipizzaner gelding, named Valcour, who fell through the floor of his stall. MSPCA-Angell Boston said that their Large Animal Rescue team rushed to assist.

The team worked with first responders for four hours to free Valcour. Amazingly, he escaped the harrowing ordeal with no life-threatening injuries.

According to Valcour’s owners, he was up and walking around normally the day after his ordeal.

The animal welfare agency provides workshops to train first responders. They said:

Our team offered specialized Large Animal Rescue Training that uses innovative rescue equipment to conduct hands-on workshops. The next training is scheduled for June 23 and is open to members of the public as well as first responders to attend. For more information and to register, please visit mspca.org/equinesafety.

If you are a fire department, school, veterinary office, or other organization that would be interesting in hosting a group training for your team, please reach out directly to equineoutreach@mspca.org.
