Update 6/24/2024: Allie has a rescue tag, she is safe with East Texas Hoof and Paw Animal Rescue.
Houston, Texas – A senior German shepherd, clearly neglected by whoever cared for her in the past, is on the euthanasia list for this Monday. The 13-year-old dog, dubbed Allie, was picked up as a stray – she had no identification, only a dirty, old collar.
Nobody has come forward to claim Allie, and now she is on the list to be put down on Monday, June 24. A volunteer who met Allie noted that the neglected senior dog posed proudly for her photos – the volunteer writes:
:
I couldn’t take Allie outside due to her stray hold not being up, but I figured a picture and video was better than nothing. She broke my heart, and I hope someone takes pity on her and wants to give her a better ending. She’s 13 and she’s been neglected for god knows how long. ☹️ She was picked up a stray, but she had on a very loose dirty collar, AND knows sit, so she did have an owner at some point. In the kennel she greeted me with a wagging tail and big puppy eyes. She’s super skinny and starving (so you have to watch your fingers with treats) but she was very sweet, and posed so proudly for pics.
Allie’s body shows the effect of being neglected for all of most of her life. She has thin fur, cataracts, heartworms, and she is underweight. But Allie still wants to live – and she deserves to know what it means to be loved and cared for, even if only for a short time.
Please help save Allie’s life – details below.
