Dog Rescued After Getting Lost In Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park – A dog survived on his own for two days after getting spooked and lost in California’s Joshua Tree National Park. The 10-month-old Doberman, Onyx, was reported missing on June 8.

According to his owners, he was unleashed near the Jumbo Rocks Campground when he got scared and bolted. Approximately 24 hours later, someone spotted the lost dog on rock formations near the campground – the dog appeared to be dehydrated.

A rescue team successfully lured Onyx to them with water and he was turned over to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services before being reunited with his grateful owner.

The animal welfare agency reminded pet owners that it is important to keep your dog on a leash and fit them with a collar that has identification and ensure they have a microchip if they happen to get lost.

As reported by KTNV News, the dog’s owner was fined for having their dog off leash.
