Effingham, IL – On Tuesday, the Effingham woman who was recorded setting a guinea pig on fire, was sentenced to prison time. Jasmine A. Meyer, 21, was sentenced to three years in prison for killing the guinea pig.
Meyer’s cruel act was recorded and posted to Facebook in a gruesome video that shows her dousing the animal in accelerant and lighting it on fire. The tortured animal could be seen running frantically while burning – Meyers laughed throughout the video, which concluded after the guinea pig stopped moving and died.
In addition to three years in prison, Meyer was also sentenced to a year of supervised release and a $500 fine, plus court costs. The judge also sentenced her to a concurrent three-year term on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, a Class 3 felony, and aggravated battery to a corrections officer, a Class 2 felony.
