In a release, the animal welfare agency said:

He was brought to a local emergency veterinary hospital, who then called our Animal Law Enforcement team. Once he was stable enough to be moved, he was transferred to our Main Line Animal Rescue site, where he underwent surgeries and received around-the-clock care.

Though Maverick survived, the injury has caused blindness in one eye and impacted his mobility.

Maverick not only survived the seemingly impossible, but his love for people remains intact. The shelter writes, “Maverick loves people and, in recent days, has been seen romping around the yards at the scenic shelter site.”
