Laurel Park, Maryland – On May 15, a three-year-old thoroughbred died shortly after crossing the finish line at his debut career race at Laurel Park. The horse, Hit Zero, started strong in the race but quickly slowed down and dropped to last place.
After crossing the finish line, Hit Zero began coughing, dropped to his knees, put his head down, and died. Given his symptoms, it is surmised that his death was related to a cardiac problem. He is undergoing a necropsy to determine exactly what happened.
Hit Zero was trained by Brittany Russell and owned by ItsTheJHo, LLC, and Evan Trommer.
Rest easy Hit Zero.
