Emaciated, Orphaned Cub Finds A New Home

Eatonville, WA – An orphaned cougar cub, rescued by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in early March, has found a new home with Northwest Trek in Eatonville. When the five-month-old cub was first discovered, he was is dire condition.

Dr. Kadie Anderson, head veterinarian at Northwest Trek, said:

“When the cub arrived, he was in critical condition—extremely underweight, dehydrated, and anemic. He also had ticks and had been recently sprayed by a skunk. It took us 30 hours of administering fluids via an IV catheter to begin rehydrating him.”

According to Northwest Trek, the cub is receiving round-the-clock veterinary attention and making steady progress. The wildlife park said:

The cub remains behind the scenes for now. If he continues to improve, the care he’s receiving at Northwest Trek is a true success story, defying the odds and giving him a second chance at life.

When he has fully recovered, guests will be able to observe him in the park’s cat loop. Find Northwest Trek on Facebook at this link.
