Dogs Rescued From Trash Filled Home Where They Survived Two Weeks Without Care Following Death Of Owner

Mason County, WA – Nine dogs were recently rescued from “tragic conditions” at a home in Mason County where they had been living in knee-deep filth, feces, and trash, without care, for nearly two weeks following the death of their owner.

According to the Humane Society for Tacoma/Pierce County, the dogs were found when sheriff’s deputies went to a home to conduct a welfare check. The animal welfare agency said:

The dogs were terrified, crowding around their owner’s body, who had died 12 days earlier.

Animal welfare officials worked for hours to remove the terrified dogs from the home. Because of the mounds of trash, and overwhelming fear from the dogs, it took five hours to get all of the dogs out of the residence.

One of the dogs had a bucket stuck on her head – the agency said:

She endured massive, swollen wounds around her neck and was too lethargic to stand.

All of the dogs are receiving veterinary care, quality food, and love to help them recuperate from the trauma they have endured.
