Medina County, Ohio – On the morning of August 23, Trooper John Kronander found a puppy who was abandoned at a rest stop along Interstate 71 in Medina County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol posted video footage of the encounter on Tuesday, writing:
During a morning rest area check, Trooper Kronander discovered an abandoned puppy inside a crate along I-71 in Medina County.
Video captured the encounter, showing a playful pup who is grateful to be out of the cage he was left in. The trooper played a bit with the pup and then gently transferred him to the patrol car for transport to the Medina County SPCA.
Currently there are no leads in this case. Ohio law prohibits owners and keepers from abandoning a dog, cat or other domestic animal. Under Ohio Revised Code §959.01, abandonment is a criminal offense punishable as a second-degree misdemeanor for a first offense and a first-degree misdemeanor for subsequent offenses.

People are up in arms about “big brother is watching” but the downward spiral of human behavior and activity demands that we need surveillance to help catch the monsters who abuse, neglect, abandon, exploit, torture or kills an animal. If people cannot act and behave like decent humans, then bring on the cameras and catch these filthy monsters. I have nothing to hide as I am not an animal abuser so I have nothing to fear. We need to ID these dregs of society and serve up some good old-fashioned justice.

lucky pup for sure….id have asked the driver of that big truck if they seen anything, or search the truck for evidence the dog came from it… glad the puppy was found before it was dead in that crate….

Big appreciation to an officer who obviously like dogs. Hopefully much brighter days are ahead for that sweet little one. I’d think there would be cameras covering all areas of a rest stop. Hopefully the creep who is responsible gets to know abandonment like this too.
Are there no cameras at rest stops? Maybe there should be so heartless idiots like this one can pay the price for their cruelty. So thankful this little pup was saved. Hope he finds a loving forever home with someone that has compassion! Find this jerk, and lock him in a port a potty ! He deserves no mercy!
