Dead Horse Found in Downtown Atlanta

Atlanta, GA – During the early morning hours on Sunday, a horse died on the street in downtown Atlanta. As reported by Atlanta News First, the owner of the horse told the police that the horse suffered a “medical emergency” during a ride just after midnight on Sunday.

Before the owner was contacted, businesses and passersby contacted the authorities to report the deceased horse on the ground at Peachtree Street and MLK Jr. Drive.

Rumors swirled on social media that the horse was with a carriage company, but it was privately owned. Jon Birdsong, who owns a business near the area where the horse died, tells the news agency:

“He never told us why he was down here. We do know that he had just purchased the horse at an auction, and the Department of Agriculture knows that as well, about 10 days ago, so, yeah, it’s a tragic occurrence.”

Currently, there is no indication that the horse’s owner is facing charges.

  3. Why do people STILL ride a carriagez usually being pulled – ALL DAY LONG – by a single horse! Do you not know how heavy these are? The ‘owners’ care nothing fornthe horses and only for the money they bring! Horse and carriage are atrocities of the pastz fucking leave them there! Walk around yourselves lazy fat bastards!!

Horse drawn carriages should be banned, we are not living in 1875 and they do not need to be used for human entertainment.

  5. It’s horrible that this even happened or that it even happens often as the article states! Maybe Atlanta needs to put stricter policies in hand for carriage companies and get people out to do inspections on these horses! Maybe the owner needs to be tied to carriage to pull people around without food or water, let him die in the middle of the streets.
