Skagit County, Washington – Officials in Washington state have solved the mystery surrounding the discovery of 21 “dog” carcasses found washed ashore on Guemes Island. According to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, the bodies were foxes, not dogs, and they are tied to a commercial crabber who was apparently using them for bait.
In an April 10 press release, the sheriff’s office said:
Based on information gathered to date, the animals involved are believed to be foxes that originated from a farm outside the State of Washington. They were lawfully purchased and transported into Washington for use in commercial fishing operations.
Adding:
Given the facts and circumstances currently known, the Sheriff’s Office does not anticipate referring any charges to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Using poor beautiful foxes as bait is sickening and it ahould be illegal just based on the lack of morality of it. It’s disgusting and wrong regardless of what the stupid law there says!!!
Probably a fur “farmer” getting more bang for his filthy buck by selling the skinned carcasses to “crabbers.” How do fox bodies serve as bate for crabs?? This world is insane and “humans” are the worst of it all.
Let’s hope sooner than later that the crabber falls overboard somehow and sleeps with the fishes.

What’s legal and what’s moral and ethical are two different things. The police didn’t press charges because torturing foxes isn’t illegal? What’s wrong with these people? Animal cruelty cases are not taken seriously. I see monsters getting away with murder, and it must stop. People can’t tell the difference between right and wrong anymore. It’s a sad commentary on our society.
