Columbia, SC – Columbia’s Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty Center is treating a cat who was possibly the target of cruelty. According to sources, a cat with glue covering her face was found behind an air-conditioning unit at a Columbia apartment complex last Thursday.
The cat’s eyes were sealed shut by the substance and her nostrils were at least partially blocked. Dr. Wynter Gantt tells KTRE News, “She couldn’t look out of [her eyes] at all, her nose had [a substance] in both nostrils, at least partially [obstructing] her breathing, and she had [part] of her mouth closed essentially with glue all the way covering the top of her head, ears, and portions of her neck.”
It is unclear what happened to the young cat, and whether it was accidental or intentional. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating to determine if a crime took place.
In the meantime, the cat continues to recover at the veterinary hospital. For the Love of Street Dogs rescue is collecting funds for her veterinary care. Click here to make a donation for her expenses.
