Northumberland County, PA – Nearly a dozen badly neglected dogs are in good hands after the police discovered deplorable conditions at property in Northumberland County. According to the Pennsylvania SPCA, police found three dogs frozen to death on a porch and 11 others living in squalor.
The agency describes the horrific scene:
The home was filled with trash and debris, where 11 severely malnourished dogs—primarily Anatolian Shepherds—were confined in pen-like enclosures and crates saturated with excrement. Some crates were stacked on top of each other. Though metal bowls were present, not a single one contained food or water.
Adding:
Every dog’s pelvic, rib, spinal, and skull bones were clearly visible through their skin. A single cat was also discovered, her bones easily felt when our officer removed her from her crate.
Most alarming were bowls of bright green liquid scattered throughout the home, emitting a strong chemical smell—likely a cleaning solution that some animals may have ingested.
Tragically, more dogs died after being saved. The organization said:
Pumpkin and Brownie continued to decline as their kidneys failed from toxin ingestion. With their bodies already so fragile, we are deeply saddened to report that they succumbed to their ailments.
Despite the horrors these dogs endured, they have forgiving and loving hearts.
