Madison County, Indiana – On Friday afternoon, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office let residents know that two “exotic cats” had been spotted in the 10000 block of South County Road 50 West. In a social media post, the authorities said:
A local resident reported observing what appeared to be a 300-pound lioness wearing a blue harness alongside a smaller cub estimated at 100 to 150 pounds. The reporting party stated the animals were traveling southwest before visual contact was lost.
Deputies conducted an extensive search of the area but did not find any sign of the big cats. However, the agency is advising residents to remain vigilant and to report any unusual animal sightings to the local authorities.

The law needs to seriously crack down on the USA with people owning wildlife. Someone on social media keeps getting baby monkeys, spider monkeys not knowing (or know & don’t care) that the traffickers have to kill the mothers to pry the babies off of them. This lioness was either bred and that’s her baby with her, which is highly likely and/or they got the baby from a trafficker. Either way, law enforcement must set water/food out to trap them or the hunting instincts (prey drive) will kick in and people will be losing their family pets. To me it sounds like law enforcement are being lazy about this and expecting people to look out for them instead of taking control of it and trapping them. It won’t just be hunters with a trigger finger to kill these poor babies, law enforcement are quick to pull the trigger too as numerous family pets get killed yearly. Just recently 1 police officer killed a baby donkey that was bottle fed running towards him to play and instead was tazed and then shot dead when that officer went on private property and didn’t officially contact the owners before entering private property. The baby donkey wanted to visit and play but instead was shot dead. This is all on tiktok and very sad/emotional as the owner was crying, etc. I PRAY the lioness and her cub do not get killed but instead go to a reputable and well investigated sanctuary. I don’t like zoos.
some ” hunter ‘ will try to kill them. if captured, they will be deemed someone’s ‘property’ and a looong court case will happen. the owners should surrender them to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in colorado, as they obviously cannot keep them contained!

Capture them Humanely and relocate to a zoo!!!!!! Obviously if one is wearing a harness, then someone had this cat since it was young (most likely illegally). They need to investigate traveling zoos/circus and whoever would have enough $ to bring over/buy an exotic animal. This is not your usual pet—someone knows aomething.

Zoos are nearly as bad as being captive in someone’s house. Since this beautiful cat cannot be released into the wild, it should be sent to a reputable animal sanctuary, the emphasis here on reputable.

I pray that they will remain safe. If they need to be relocated, please do it humanely—no killing or cruelty. They are beautiful creatures and deserve to live their lives in peace.
