Houston, Texas – A young shepherd, just four years of age, appears to have never known love. Sadly, she is forgotten at a Texas animal control facility and unless help arrives in time, she may never know the joy of being loved.

Her name is Seraphina and she is sitting in a lonely kennel run at Harris County Pets. Seraphina’s fur is thin, her body malnourished, and her eyes haunted by the neglect she has endured. The Saving Dogs from Euthanasia Facebook page writes:

The image captures a hauntingly thin German Shepherd sitting on a sterile, grey shelter floor beside a cold, untouched water bowl. Her ribs protrude beneath her patchy fur, ravaged by demodex and alopecia. Her ears are perked with caution, not confidence. But it’s her eyes that break you—wide, sunken, and filled with a sorrow so deep, you can feel the weight of it.
