Niles, Ohio – A dog who stumbled into the backyard of a Niles resident over the weekend died from heatstroke. According to Jason Cooke, founder and president of the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, the dog’s internal temperature was nearly 109 degrees.
In a heartbreaking post to social media, Cooke said:
At the time of my arrival the dog’s temperature was 108.6 degrees Fahrenheit; he was foaming at the mouth and panting excessively — all clear signs of heat stroke…
#Tyler was rushed to MedVet in Girard, OH, where he subsequently passed away after suffering blindness and neurological issues from heat stroke.
Cooke is hoping to find more information about the dog, who he named Tyler.
