Omaha, NE – A woman is wanted for felony animal cruelty following the discovery of a badly neglected, dying dog at a residence in Nebraska. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a tip was reported in mid-September, and it led the authorities to the discovery of the neglected dog at Sherry Dale’s residence.
The dog, Choppa, was in “dire” need of emergency veterinary care. The authorities outlined the slew of maladies he was suffering from, writing:
“Choppa was severely emaciated, lethargic, with open, maggot infested wounds.”
Tragically, by the time help arrived for Choppa, he was too far gone to save. The Nebraska Humane Society veterinary staff determined that humane euthanasia was the only option. After Choppa’s death, a necropsy revealed the depth of his suffering:
A necropsy was conducted which showed evidence of severe malnutrition with no palpable body fat, infection in the bladder, urine scalding and the presence of live maggots in open wounds as well as other related conditions.
Now, the woman who caused Choppa’s suffering is being sought by the police so that she can face justice. Dale was last seen in the area of 35th and Harrison.
