Dickson County, Tennessee – Four people are facing animal cruelty charges following the discovery and rescue of two badly neglected puppies. According to sources, Patricia Story and Michael Story Jr., and Katelynn Covill and Christopher Gomez, are each charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty/neglect, a Class E felony.
On July 18, two 10-month-old puppies, Titan and Candie, were found tethered to trees with no access to shelter or food and water at a residence in the 1400 block of Old Stage Road in Charlotte. The affidavit reveals that Titan, a Great Dane, weighed just 40 pounds and was suffering from “anemia, leukocytosis, neutrophilia, hypoproteinemia, and hookworm ova (too numerous to count)”present in the fecal exam.”
Candie, a lab mix, weighed just 34 pounds and had a temperature of 103.1 degrees, in addition to anemia, leukocytosis, neutrophilia, eosinophilia, and too many hookworm ova to count present in the fecal exam.
Covill and Gomez are reported to be the dogs’ owners – they allegedly moved away on July 11, leaving the puppies behind. Both pups are being cared for at the Dickson County Humane Society.
