Namibia (Southern Africa) – A wealthy businessman, known for his philanthropy and support of Namibian desert lions, was fatally mauled by a lioness after stepping out to use the restroom while staying at a luxury safari with his wife and other tourists. According to sources, 59-year-old Bernd Kebbel was attacked shortly after leaving the safety of a vehicle’s rooftop tent near Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp.
Kebbel was unaware that a lioness was apparently near the tent when he descended the ladder – the large cat attacked him and dragged him away by his neck. A Namibian lion expert is quoted in the Daily Mail, saying:
‘Thankfully it would have been quick as a human is no match for a lioness that is in its prime.” Adding, “They are quick and fast and extremely strong and do not get much opportunity to hunt so can become very hungry – hungry enough to risk attacking a feared human.”
CBS reports this is the second deadly lion attack in less than six weeks in Africa.

Well, he was not doing anything wrong like some others but I hope they do not punish the lioness with death. Somehow it is acceptable for people to kill nonhuman animals but if it happens the other way, there is no tolerance.
He should’ve known better than to step outside in lion country. Sad for his family but he did so love the lions. it is a bittersweet end to his life and I’m sorry to read about his death. Please tell me that the lioness will not be killed.
