Update 7/13/2023: Rescued!
Harris County, TX – A sweet, senior dog named Lucy was surrendered to a busy, frightening shelter by her family, who cited “cost” as the reason for giving their pet up.
Lucy was surrendered to Harris County Pets on June 29…she came to the shelter with her toy, and held it in her mouth as staff took her intake photo. According to an advocate, Lucy is a sweet girl who gets along with people and other animals. She is housebroken and described as a “perfect companion.”
But her age is working against her. Few people walk into an animal shelter seeking a senior dog – especially in a day and age where there are SO many unwanted pets to choose from. On Wednesday, an advocate wrote:
🙏SECOND CALL for SENIOR LUCY STILL AT SHELTER, holidays make all slow, please consider foster, adopt or pledge for a good rescue to help!
❤️SENIOR LUCY, 10 YRS OLD SPENDING EVERYDAY IN A CROWDED LOUD SHELTER, NEEDS HELP PLEASE!❤️
Please consider taking a moment to help Lucy get out of the frightening shelter. She deserves to spend the twilight of her life in the company of someone who will love and spoil her.
