In a Facebook group established to find Archie, an explanation of how he vanished was posted by his owner:

6/24 7PM WE WERE ALL AT THE RIVER DIRECTLY DOWN FROM CAMP, ABOUT A QUARTER MILE. WE WERE ALL STANDING IN THE WATER, ITS SLOW AND ANKLE DEEP AND THEN HE WAS JUST GONE. WE DID NOT SEE HIM RUN OFF.

  1. Put up posters all over the place where you were!! He could probably be miles from where you were in just minutes!! Suppose he ran after an animal of some sort, and is now trying to find his way out, how hard would that be?? Think a bit like the lost dog, he can get water at least!! Form a crowd of people to search for the dog at least 10 miles and come inwards toward where he was lost!! How about search dogs?? Maybe they can pick up the scent of the dog!! How about someone seeing him and taking him home?? Have it put in the papers even out of state!! These are just a few ideas, I hope one of them is something you can use!!! When you get him back, have him registered too, it defends you when he is in a home somewhere else!!!

  2. He looks like a wolf, so beautiful. If there are wolves or coyotes in the area, maybe he’s with them? I sure hope he’s okay and will get back to his family who love him so much.

    • You must be naive, wolves and coyotes aren’t just going to welcome in a domestic dogs into their pack. They would though attack and eat one. The dog should have been on a leash or tether to keep him safe while the family enjoyed the river.
