Shelter Helps Emaciated Puppy, Abandoned And Near Death, Recover

Monmouth County, NJ – An eight-week-old puppy is making a remarkable recovery after being found near death in the Myrtle Avenue area of Neptune. The pup, dubbed Matilda, was emaciated and too weak to lift her head when she was found earlier this month.

On May 9, the Monmouth County SPCA said:

Skin and bones, labored breathing, and unable to lift her head, a puppy we’ve named “Matilda” was on the brink of death 😞

But with the help of the shelter’s medical team, and a dedicated foster home, Matilda’s condition has turned around. On Monday, the animal welfare agency said:

We are so happy to share that Matilda has been making tremendous strides in the RIGHT direction, and although we can’t say for sure that she’s out of the woods yet, we can certainly say that she’s showing great improvement.

Information about whoever is responsible for abandoning Matilda should be phoned into the Humane Law Enforcement Division at 732-440-1539.
