Aurora, CO – A dog who fell through the ice at Utah Park this week was saved after a good Samaritan called Aurora911 to report the harrowing incident. According to Aurora Fire Rescue, the caller reported two dogs falling through the ice-covered pond, approximately 10 to 15 feet from the shoreline.
The fire agency writes:
AFR’s Engine 4 was first on-scene to perform the ice rescue, assisted by AFR’s Technical Rescue Team and multiple other AFR and Falck Rocky Mountain – Aurora, Colorado responders.
The dogs managed to get themselves out of the icy pond before rescuers arrived and one ran from the scene. The remaining dog received life-saving care to help raise the body temperature, the agency said:
The second dog received care in the ambulance to restore its core body temperature, then was turned over to Animal Control to locate the dog’s owner.
