Rutherford County, TN – A pet zebra who has been on the run for days in Rutherford County has been spotted in a field near Christiana. The zebra made a break for freedom last weekend, less than 24 hours after being delivered to his new owners in Tennessee.
According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, the rogue zebra had “wreaked havoc” on area roadways, temporarily shutting down a section of Interstate 24.

The zebra was spotted multiple times throughout the week – at one point running through neighborhood streets.
On Friday morning, the sheriff’s office notified the public that the zebra had been spotted and was being tracked with a drone:

Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies observed a missing zebra through a drone camera Friday morning in a field near Christiana.
Deputies are tracking the zebra with the drone.
Sheriff’s Cpl. Sean White has asked people to avoid the area.
Sheriff’s Cpl. Sean White has implored the public to stay away from the area:
“We don’t want to scare the zebra. We need time to get him to calm down.”
The authorities have contacted a veterinarian to help with the rescue efforts, and the zebra’s owner has been notified.
