Olympia, Washington – A long-time poacher, who illegally killed wildlife for years, has been sentenced to prison. According to sources, 77-year-old Ronald Livermore was sentenced to 43.5 months in prison after pleading guilty to seven felony counts.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Ronald Livermore pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree; one count of unlawful hunting of big game in the first degree committed while armed with a firearm; one count of unlawful hunting of big game in the first degree; and one count of unlawful possession of a short-barreled rifle.
As reported by KOMO News, Livermore’s poaching incidents span decades. While one of his cases was pending, and he was released on home confinement, a paralyzed deer was discovered by wildlife officials near Livermore’s property. Officials also found multiple homemade firearms hidden in his home. The Attorney General’s Office found evidence showing that Livermore lured deer to his porch to shoot them.
Northwest Sportsman Magazine said Livermore’s criminal history spans two decades and includes him spending three years in an Oregon jail after pleading no contest in a 2016 case to aggravated abuse of an animal, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited silencer. That case involved the sexual abuse of an animal, but the sexual abuse charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.
According to a press release from the Washington Attorney General’s Office, Livermore’s sentence was the “longest agreed recommendation for an illegal hunting sentencing in almost a decade.”
