Handsome Shepherd Picked Up As A Stray, Nobody Came To Get Him And Shelter Discovers He Is Blind

Los Angeles, CA – On December 8, a handsome German shepherd pup was picked up as a stray and taken to the Los Angeles Animal Services – North Central Shelter. At the facility, the staff noticed that he was running into everything.

A veterinary exam revealed that the young dog is completely blind. An advocate writes:

HE WAS SEEN BY THE VET HES COMPLETELY BLIND IN BOTH EYES ! HES THE SWEETEST TEMPERED BABY BOY HE JUST NEEDS SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE FOR BLIND DOGS!

Shelters are frightening and overwhelming for most dogs. Imagine the confusion this dog feels living in complete darkness. Please help network this German shepherd’s adoption information to help him find a rescue group to take him in and place him in an appropriate home. As usual…time is of the essence.

  1. I agree they are monsters and they should not be in society and never be around animals or children. Let’s not let people get away with this anymore.

  2. No abuser should have freedom to do it again. They should suffer the exact thing/things that they inflicted on an animal. There is NEVER a reason for CRUELTY, ever!!!!

  3. You have to create legislation that ensures the harshest punishment for animal abuse. The current laws are totally ineffective and inadequate. More importantly, those presiding over animal abuse need to ACKNOWLEDGE the brutality of it and ensure there is uniformity in sentencing. Mandatory incarceration for ANY act of animal abuse ………NOW.

  4. The dog’s owner probably purposely abandoned the dog because they didn’t want to deal with a blind animal. This is why mandatory micro-chipping should be required for all pets. This way the shelter and law enforcement could find the owner and charge them with abandoning their dog.

  5. Making micro-chipping of animals required by law will help law enforcement find pet owners that abandoned pets. I’m sure this dog was dumped because he became blind and they didn’t want to deal with it. Heartless people. Would you dump your child if they were born blind or became blind?
