Philadelphia, PA – Days ago, an injured dog was found huddled on a doorstep, seeking refuge and seemingly hoping that someone would notice him and offer help. The dog, dubbed Lemon, was missing a leg…the bone exposed, leaving him in urgent need of veterinary care.
Pennsylvania SPCA explains the dire situation, “Our friends at ACCT Philly picked him up. Due to his condition, he was quickly transferred to our Philadelphia hospital to receive care. Though you couldn’t tell from his sweet demeanor and wanting to crawl into every lap he could, Lemon was in critical condition. He was transferred to Blue Pearl to receive emergent, overnight care.”
Lemon underwent surgery to amputate the remainder of his leg and despite his pain, his sweet, loving demeanor has remained intact. The shelter says, “He wants to meet everyone, he leans in for pets, enjoys toys and likes to play. His life on three-legs is going to be filled with joy…and hope. We estimate he’s 2-years-old, and are so happy to say that despite what he has been through, he remains happy.”
Lemon has received a lot of attention on the shelter’s Facebook page, but nobody has inquired about adopting him. Please visit Pennsylvania SPCA on Facebook and follow Lemon’s story – he has an entire life to live and hopefully someone will take him in and show him how good it can be.
