Kahului, Maui – An act of extreme violence claimed the life of a 71-year-old Maui man who was attacked on the evening of August 6. According to sources, Alfred Kailihiwa and his sister were feeding stray cats in downtown Kahului when three people got angry about headlights shining on them.
As reported by KHNL News, Kailihiwa was struck multiple times in the head and kicked after he fell. He sustained severe injuries and died the next day at a hospital in Maui.
Police arrested Johnathan Koko-Kong and Richard Kealoha-Kaauwai and they are facing charges of murder, robbery and assault.
A GoFundMe has been established on the victim’s behalf. The fundraiser states:
The family is facing a lot of costs. If any funds remain, they will be spent just the way Alfred would want — providing cat food for Maui’s dedicated caretakers/trappers.

Stupid idiot scum need to pray the price for killing an innocent man!
God bless his gentle soul! We need more people that are advocates for animals. But to murder a senior citizen for doing compassionate care for stray cats. They’re demonic and they’re subhuman, and they deserve to die in jail. They have no regard for human life so that means they’d probably treat and holes even worse. Don’t let them out of jail. They don’t deserve to ever see the light of day.
This man was showing compassion! The monsters that did this to him must be severely punished! They are evil!!!
Please prosecute with the most severe penalty. They caused a death of an innocent person and should get life in prison or the death penalty. This was a heinous and deplorable crime.
