San Juan County, Utah – On Tuesday evening, a semi-truck flipped on its side on SR 191 near Lisbon Valley Road while hauling 31 horses. According to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, local ranchers helped the department’s livestock team rescue the trapped horses from the flipped trailer.
The rescued horses were taken to the fairgrounds and held until further arrangements for the horses could be made.
Tragically, four horses died in the crash. The sheriff’s office said:
“Unfortunately, 4 of the horses passed away from the crash but because of efforts and help from Guy Tracy, Charlie Tracy, Nathan Freestone, David Robinson, Steven Robinson, Brian Robinson, and Loren Holyoak the rest were saved. This was a big operation for our county and without the help of our residents we wouldn’t have been able to pull it off.”
