Volunteer Favorite, Max, Red Alerted After More Than A Year At Shelter – Dies Next Week

Los Angeles, CA – A dog who was surrendered to a crowded California animal control facility more than a year ago has been “red-listed” for euthanasia. Max, a six-year-old German shepherd, is a volunteer favorite and those who know him are heartbroken that his story may end abruptly and unfairly next week.

A volunteer writes about Max’s many attributes:

We can’t believe volunteer favorite, Max, is now on this dreaded list 💔 He has waited since JANUARY 2022 for someone to choose him and it will be heartbreaking if he doesn’t make it out after all of that time. This 6 year old boy is the loveliest of pups! He’s well behaved, affectionate, and playful! He’s an avid fetch player who will bring the ball back and drop it without you asking. When he’s not chasing a ball, he’ll happily cozy up to you for plenty of pets or plop over on his back for some tummy rubs! Got treats?! Then ask him to run through his basic commands and he’ll gladly do so!

Max is described as “selective and tolerant” of other dogs in playgroups.

Max must exit the facility by 4 p.m. on Monday, October 16, or he will be euthanized. Please network his adoption information to help save his life.
