ESKRIDGE, Kansas – A $1,000 reward is being offered by the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for fatally shooting two therapy horses. According to the Sheriff’s Office, someone shot the horses in the vicinity of Bradford and Mission Valley Rd. sometime over night between January 30 and January 31.
On Monday, the authorities emphasized their commitment to finding whoever is responsible for the killings, writing:
These horses were used for therapy for veterans & first responders suffering from PTS. We are devoting the full might of our investigative resources towards the relentless pursuit & capture of the perpetrator or perpetrators responsible for this reprehensible atrocity against these beautiful, innocent & defenseless animals.
Adding:
The animals were taken to K-State for forensic examination & we’re treating this like a homicide. An attack on one of us, is an attack on all of us. WBSO stands resolved & in constant valiant defense of all, be ye Cattle, Castle, Horse or Man.
Sheriff Eric Kirsch added a special message to the person(s) responsible:
To the COWARD/s responsible, you WILL be hunted, captured & then brought before the righteous light of justice. There is iron in my words for all to see & may God help you; we are coming.
