San Bernardino, California – A tiny dog dubbed Nicki is sitting in a lonely kennel run at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter where her life has been reduced to just a number…an ID number devoid of personality. The seven-year-old Chihuahua is terrified at the facility, where she spends her time shivering in fear.
Her advocate writes poignant words that sum up her sad plight:
She’s shivering in her kennel, trembling at every sound, overwhelmed by the loud, chaotic world around her. Her eyes search for comfort, for a hand to reach through the bars, for someone to tell her she’s safe — and no one has come. She’s been available for three days, yet still alone, still afraid, still waiting.
She is dog friendly, gentle, and full of love, but here she is, reduced to a number on a kennel card. Every moment she spends behind bars chips away at her trust, her hope, her little heart. Just seeing her like this is heartbreaking — a life so full of potential, warmth, and loyalty, trapped in fear and uncertainty.
One little dog waiting for someone to see her worth. She is one of too many homeless pets hoping against hope that they will beat the odds and get to live out the remainder of their life. Please share Nicki’s information and help her beat the odds stacked against her.
