Cobb County, GA – Efforts are underway to help a sweet, senior Labrador retriever find a home after being abandoned by his family. The eight-year-old dog, Apollo, is being held at the Cobb County Animal Services facility in Marietta, GA.
As the days pass, Apollo’s depression increases. Visitors find the amicable dog sleeping on his bed…letting time pass him by in the absence of a family to love. Recently, a volunteer interacted with Apollo – rousing him from his daily slumber and taking him outside for a change of scenery.
Apollo was clearly excited for his outing, and his desire for love is apparent.
Social media efforts have ticked up on Apollo’s behalf after a social media post asking for help:
“Today I got a text from Sherry, the founder of the volunteer program at Cobb. She asked me if I could do a video for Apollo… a senior at the shelter who has been pretty depressed lately.
He spends all day sleeping in his bed….
He is a lab mix, and arrived at the shelter on 07/29 after his family said they were moving and couldn’t take him.
Since then, he has been really down, spending most of his days alone in his kennel, barely lifting his head. His sadness is real; even dogs can experience depression, and Apollo is feeling it hard.”
You can help Apollo find a home by taking a moment to network his adoption information. Each day behind bars is another day his hope fades. Please help him find someone to love.
APOLLO NEEDS AN ARMY… AND WE’RE HOPING YOU’LL BE PART OF IT.❤️

UPDATE: APOLLO WAS RESCUED TODAY BY Hero Dog Rescue !! HE IS NOW HEALING AND GETTING LOTS OF LOVE IN HIS FOSTER HOME! To adopt him go on the page and fill out an application!!
Thanks for the fantastic news!
Thank God!! The South treats animals poorly, I was born and raised there a Native to GA and moved to the West Coast and what a difference!! GA I beg you to do better…It sadly needs more Animal Shelters with Loving attendants…and more impactful animal laws! Macon & Warner Robins GA and south of that line treats its animals like crap, I’ve never seen so many abandoned and neglected dogs, cats, etc!! SHAME ON GEORGIA!! Atlanta, Columbus, Athens & Savannah are the only solid hubs for shelter…I do rescue, and this statement is sadly true-UGH!!!
Move him out of the south and he will be adopted quickly! East coast!!
Why doesn’t somebody at the shelter just take the poor creature home? He’s an old dog. How much longer can he last? He won’t trouble you for long and it would mean
the world to him.
What a dumb remark. For your information the East Coast is part of the South. Dumb SOB.
wow that’s a lot of emotion for a comment on an animal rights page. calm down….. I knew what she meant.
I hope the miserable shit family who left him (amd obviously didn’t take good care of him when they had him) get treated the same way in their senior years – except I hope there’s no army of decent people to help them.
AGREE ….. i have moved plenty and always found a place where i can have my dogs…. and yeah.. they are a shit family and they will know what its like when the kids put them in an old folks home and just leave them there…. KARMA….
Apollo is such a sweet dog. He has clearly been an unloved lawn ornament; you can tell just by looking at him, he is in bad shape, way older than his years, obviously has been fed garbage and not exercised and has lived outside. This lovely boy deserves a home where he can live inside, be fed quality food, go for a walk every day with his family and cuddle on the couch after dinner. My heart breaks for this sweet loving beautiful soul. Please everyone spread the word for Apollo.
please Someone In Georgia Adopt that Precious Darling Apollo!! He would add so much and joy to your life❤️😘❤️
