Austin, TX – On August 14, Austin Pets Alive! issued a press release outlining an overnight break-in at their Town Lake Animal Center. According to the animal welfare agency, a man forcibly entered the building, damaging the keypad entry system.
Once inside, the man opened kennel doors, freeing dogs and causing multiple altercations. The organization said:
At least five dogs sustained injuries and one tragically passed away. The injured dogs are receiving veterinary care and are currently in stable condition. All cats in the facility are safe and unharmed.
Many of the dogs released from the kennels were missing after the break in, but Austin Pets Alive! provided an update that the missing dogs have all been recovered.
Anyone with information or who spots one of the missing dogs is urged to contact Austin Pets Alive! immediately at 512-663-8643. Please email pr@austinpetsalive.org for interviews or additional information
