Ottawa, Ontario – A shuttered Canadian marine park has threatened to euthanize 30 beluga whales if they do not receive federal funding. According to sources, the Marineland Zoo and amusement park closed to the public last year, and they have run out of funds to care for the remaining beluga whales in their care.
The marine park hoped to send the remaining captive whales to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom theme park in China, but the government denied the request. Fisheries minister Joanne Thompson claims moving the whales “would perpetuate the treatment these belugas have endured.”
Managers of the park demanded cash from the government – and threatened to euthanize the whales if the cash infusion was not received. The demand letter allegedly states, “If we do not receive a response by that date, we will have no choice but to presume that the answers to our inquiries are negative,” adding that it will “face the devastating decision of euthanasia.”
Thompson denied the request and stated that the park’s failure to plan was not the government’s responsibility.

According to the Associated Press, 20 whales have died at the marine park since 2019.

The evil people at that cruel Marine Park must be punished!
“20 whales have died at the marine park since 2019” Why aren’t the owners of this place already in jail for animal abuse and neglect?
If the evil people from that Marine Park really kill these precious animals they will go to hell soon! These cruel people will be punished, they will pay!!!!
So greedy humans at the park have shown their true colours. These beautiful whales mean nothing to them. They are merely commodities.
Shame too on the unfeeling government.
Humans see everything through dollar signs.
All of these parks should be banned!
Wonderful ocean creatures like this should be left in the oceans. These types of places should be illegal. Unless it’s a rescue and rehabilitation center, then there should be no justification for it.
