Skagit County, Washington – The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation after the discovery of multiple dog bodies along the shoreline on Guemes Island. On April 1, the sheriff’s office issued a release about the disturbing finds, writing:
On March 26, 2026, the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of six deceased canines that had washed ashore in the Guemes Island area.
Since the initial report, deputies and Animal Control Officer Diaz have located an additional five deceased canines along the shoreline on Guemes Island. On March 31, 2026, one additional deceased canine was discovered floating in the La Conner Channel. That animal was recovered by Animal Control Officer Diaz.
As reported by KOMO News, the number of dead dogs found in the area has climbed to 21, causing many to speculate a serial killer in the making is on the loose.
The canine bodies are undergoing necropsies to help determine the actual cause of death.
