Update: Adopted by a private party! Thank you for networking on Max’s behalf.
Jurupa Valley, CA – A handsome, middle-aged German shepherd dubbed Max has been at the Riverside County Animal Control – Riverside Shelter since December 2024. Now, the facility has decided that his time is up, and he MUST exit their shelter by 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.
Only dogs with the best attributes survive this long at busy animal shelter facilities. But Max’s good behavior is not enough to save his life when the powers that be decide that there is no longer room for him.
An advocate writes of the dog formerly known as Maple:
Maple is at Riverside, must exit by 3pm 7/31 after being there 213 Days! He must exit by this date by an adopter, Foster or Rescue or he will be killed for Space!
📣There is a new category at Riverside County, which is “Space”, he’s not being killed by any fault of his own, they do not have any space!
Comments: Maple has been at the shelter since 12/2024 and needs your help. Beginning to decline in shelter. Transferdas@rivco.Org ***deadline- must exit shelter by thurs 7/31 @ 3pm**
Max has spent months behind the bars of his kennel run – away from the comforts of a home, away from the people he once knew and loved. Now, he will be quietly led to a room and his life will be ended if help does not arrive in time.

You have the ability to help this gorgeous boy. Please network his adoption information to help it reach a rescue agency that can save Max’s life.

“Space” should NEVER be a reason to kill! What is the point of making room to only take in more innocent souls to be killed? I volunteered at a NO KILL shelter and we always made room, even if it meant doubling-up. PLEASE REACH OUT TO NO KILL SHELTERS and get this beautiful boy to safety. Shelters do not kill animals — slaughterhouses do!
