Shelter Seeks Home For Dog Whose Family Lost Home In Devastating Fire

Adams County, WA – An adorable young dog named George is in need of a new home after his family lost everything in a devastating fire. The year-old poodle mix is now in the care of Adams County Pet Rescue which has promised to find young George a “great home.”

The rescue group writes:

George’s family completely lost their house in a fire recently. They had to surrender George because they couldn’t take dogs with them where they are staying while they try and put their life back together.

Expressing their empathy for George’s family and the difficult decision they were forced to make:

We can’t imagine the devastation of losing your home and then finding out that you have to give up your animals too. They didn’t do this lightly but we promised that we would find George a great home.

George is trying to recover from the emotional trauma of surviving a terrifying house fire, and then losing his family. The rescue group is committed to helping him feel safe and loved until a new family can be found.

  1. No way I’d give up my dogs even if my home was destroyed; they’re family, not things. There are lots of apartments/hotels/motels where dogs are allowed. It’s of course terribly sad that their house burned down, but that’s all the more reason to appreciate and keep loved ones with you. I wish I could take George, but I and my only trustworthy relative, my brother, already have 4 between us and we’re seniors. I pray that George gets his real forever family.

    • Agree. I feel terrible for the family but dogs are family too. I can’t imagine any circumstance where I would give up my dog. I would have him boarded or find a generous soul to watch him until they could find a place to live. It’s sad all the way around but I hope the dog finds a loving forever family.
