Richland County, OH – An Ohio animal shelter is pleading for a foster home for an elderly, eyeless dog who was recently diagnosed with heartworms. The 13-year-old dog is Helena and she is in the care of the Humane Society of Richland County.
The animal welfare agency says,
Our beautiful blind dog cannot see anything, but she definitely feels things. Remember Helena came to us with glaucoma so severe that it blinded her. 😭😭😭 Right now Helena feels sad because she doesn’t have a foster family to take her home and love her.
Explaining Helena’s health problems:
Helena is 13 and was recently diagnosed as being heartworm positive. Because of her age and the potential that the treatment could be very taxing on her, the vet thinks it’s best just not to treat. She is not in pain at all. She is not suffering AT ALL. She is very sweet and loves to get petted, and she really enjoys back scratches and leisurely walks.
Helena must go to a home that is on one level – she cannot maneuver stairs. Please consider opening your home to this deserving senior dog. You can help her even if you do not live in the area – share her story!
