Lititz, Pennsylvania – Earlier this month, a school facility dog named Callie died after being left in a hot car. Callie was a facility dog for J.R. Bonfield Elementary in the Warwick School District.
Warwick School District Superintendent Jason Reifsnyder sent to parents and staff regarding the dog’s death:
“On June 11, Callie was left in a hot car and did not survive. It is a devastating loss and one this district has taken seriously from day one. Law enforcement was contacted immediately, the district cooperated fully, and their review has since concluded.”
According to a news release from the Lititz Borough Police, no charges will be filed. The agency said:
“The LBPD conducted a timely and thorough investigation. The subject of the investigation fully cooperated with police. The investigation was then reviewed by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, and it was determined by the District Attorney’s Office that the subject’s actions and intent simply did not rise to the level of a criminal act.”
No word about whether or not the car holding Callie was on school grounds or not.
Rest in peace Callie.

Same to everyone responsible.
If it were a child left in a hot car and died, there would be charges laid and consequences served. Yet for Callie, it was proven unintentional so no charges?? Parents have forgotten their children in hot cars and still charged, so why no charges for Callie even if it was unintentional. Callie suffered, that’s not enough?
The evil devil responsible for this sickening cruelty must die! This is murder!!!!!!!
NO CHARGES! Someone left that dog in a car. There need to be charges!!! This is why cruelty to animals never stops there is no punishment for killing animals.
Get the piece of shit that left this poor dog in a virtual oven … shove said piece of shit in same vehicle … weld the doors up … leave shit to slowly cook … and meet the same fate as the innocent dog that the shit murdered !!! Now ‘THAT’ is justice !!!
Then why is leaving a child in a hot car to die an arrestable offense?
People suck
The person responsible for leaving Callie in that car to die should be held accountable. There is no excuse or reason for that poor dog to have died. As usual, the person responsible is free to do it again to another innocent animal.
no charges filed, no arrests, no nothing???!!! and THIS RIGHT HERE IS EXACTLY WHY THE CRUELTY JUST DOESN’T STOP!!!!!!!!! There’s NEVER any consequences!!!!!!!!!!
Not a criminal act???
Well it was certainly a cruel, ignorant and stupid act, that’s for sure!
Throw the book at this inhumane creature!
WHY NO CHARGES?!!! AND NOTHING EVER CHANGES!!
Same to whoever is responsible.
iemand is er toch schuldig aan, de hond is er toch niet vanzelf in de auto geraakt
Oh my😢 this precious baby dog was abandoned…and suffered and died
in a hot car‼️ And nothing is done😡 this dog was A PRECIOUS LIFE💔
PUNISHMENT IS DUE💯
Does anyone who leaves a child or animal in a car have true criminal intent? It’s more a selfish, narcissistic, self-contained ego and living under a rock that doesn’t know or care to know that no living anything should ever be left in a hot car. It’s plain common sense. This person should have been charged for neglect as the first offense, animal abuse second and reckless endangerment. Something tells me the person who did this knows someone inside the judicial system. The school district and anyone attached should be outraged over the free ticket this person received.
Absolutely! It’s scary that someone involved with the school system is just plain that stupid and irresponsible. How horrible for Callie. Heartbreaking 💔
sounds like a coverup for the person who done , and to the one who did it, your not smart enough to be working at a school, if I worked there I would turnHOPE YOU CAN LIVE WITH YOURSELF!!!!!
aucune poursuite alors que cette ordure la laisser agoniser dans une bagnole en plein soleil ??? enfoiré fils de pute j’espère que tu crèveras dans d’horribles souffrances
I’d like to lock the person guilty of this poor dog’s horrible death in a sealed metal container and leave it in the hot sun for a few days. For the police and att’y general to find no one at fault I find that incredible. Someone should be held accountable for the dog’s cruel death in a hot car! Shame on the police and the AG’s office.
This is animal cruelty and every state enforces this. Why not Pa? How could a person not know a car gets so hot inside in the summer that you can die from the high temperature.
PROSECUTION ABSOLUTELY NEEDED! THIS IS A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE FIR THAT POOR PUP!!! HOW WAS THIS DISMISSED ; SHAMEFUL & EGREGIOUS. PERHAPS SOMEONE WAS PAID OFF!!! RECTIFY THIS HORRENDOUS ACT ASAP!
Absolutely need prosecution!!!!!
