Lititz, Pennsylvania – Earlier this month, a school facility dog named Callie died after being left in a hot car. Callie was a facility dog for J.R. Bonfield Elementary in the Warwick School District.
Warwick School District Superintendent Jason Reifsnyder sent to parents and staff regarding the dog’s death:
“On June 11, Callie was left in a hot car and did not survive. It is a devastating loss and one this district has taken seriously from day one. Law enforcement was contacted immediately, the district cooperated fully, and their review has since concluded.”
According to a news release from the Lititz Borough Police, no charges will be filed. The agency said:
“The LBPD conducted a timely and thorough investigation. The subject of the investigation fully cooperated with police. The investigation was then reviewed by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, and it was determined by the District Attorney’s Office that the subject’s actions and intent simply did not rise to the level of a criminal act.”
No word about whether or not the car holding Callie was on school grounds or not.

What kind of example is the POS teacher (probably) who did this giving the children? That’s it’s ok to harm or kill and animal because there are no consequences. We live in a F&^(ed up society!

This is just wrong on so many levels. Just because he cooperated, he isn’t going to be charged? That poor dog died as a result of his recklessness and he needs to be charged and then left to die in a hot car.
Most other people have been charged for the same crime. Why was this dog not watched over, it would have been so simple. This is totally unfair to the dog.

Only a true moron would think leaving an animal in a hot car is acceptable and they absolutely had to know there was a high chance of death. Not a criminal act according to authorities – what a cop out and disgusting breach of justice. May this person be locked in a hot car for hours without water and if they expire……..well good riddance to a piece of trash. May your crocodile tears and fake apologies be turned against you as you struggle to breathe in the heat and humidity of your own prison, whereever it may be.

It’s ridiculous that this isn’t a criminal act. Leaving a dog in a car in conditions that this can happen should certainly result in criminal charges. At a school of all places with children witnessing how adults treated a dog is simply horrible. Sadly once again a dog didn’t get in return what they gave to humans.

Someone needs to be held accountable and be punished for the pain, suffering, and death of this poor dog. The person that left him in that car with no way out is responsible for his death and should be made to pay for it.

Figures it’s Lancaster Co. PA. That area is NOTURIOUS for animals abuse. Puppy mills, hording, Amish Farm animals. It is an atrocity that no charges were filed for the death of this poor dog, but it doesn’t surprise me at all!!!
