Westchester County, New York – A $1,000 reward is being offered for information about an abandoned dog found near the Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers. According to the SPCA Westchester, the abandoned dog has a severe laceration on his neck.
On January 16, the animal welfare agency said:
On November 21, 2025, a one-year-old tan mixed breed, now named Frankie, was captured on camera before he was dumped at 44 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers near Oakland Cemetery. Frankie was rushed to a local veterinary hospital with a deeply infected and painful laceration to his neck and throat, largely exposing his underlying tissue. His injuries required a two-hour-long emergency surgery.

“Without proper veterinary care, this sweet dog would have likely succumbed to his injuries,” says Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s Chief Executive Officer. “Sadly, Frankie also appeared to be neglected as he was extremely underweight.”
A $1,000 reward is being offered by NYS Humane Association for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SPCA Westchester’s Confidential Animal Cruelty Hotline at 914-941-7797.
